Post DONE: FORUM - Image Attachments Reply with quote
Just wondering if we have the resources to allow image attachments to posts. It'll get crappy in the future if everyone has to hotlink images hosted elsewhere.

As you can imagine, after a while the links will die and no one in the future reading posts will be able to see what the picture was.

*thanks!*

Ytek,
I did not find the option for allowing pics and stuff. If you get a change can you check too?

Thanks,
Vaughn

Synper,
Is this different than the IMG tag in the messages? I don't see anything else.

Yes, this is different. I'm not familiar with phpbb, but vbulletin has a feature that allows you to 'manage attachments' when posting. I don't think they run vBulletin, but cocoontech has an attachment feature on their site.

Instead of clicking 'fast reply' at CT, click on 'reply'. On the page that loads you'll see an attachment section that allows you to upload files. Usually admin can specify what kind of files (images), max number of them, and max size, etc...

If Ytek or anyone else has time to search PHPBB forums for mods or settings that will allow this, we will get it in, else at least we will get closure =)

Thanks,
Vaughn

YTek found a mod that kicks ass. It does this and much more. It is complicated though and will take a couple days.

WOW - This mod was a pain to implement. But I think I got it working.

yes, exactly! It just gets confusing having that preview and seeing the image twice (once in the post and second in the attachment)

Is this fixed (no preview of attached images)? I'm checking some other threads and their still showing the preview.

For instance, check out: http://thevirtualcrib.com/phpbbdir/viewtopic.php?t=110

I attached one image, but you see it twice in the thread (once where I posted it, once at the end of the post as the preview).

I'd prefer, if possible to just have a list of attached files at the bottom of the post, no preview. On some of the threads that I attached 5 images, it quickly gets cluttered up and no one wants to follow the thread it seems
